Why You Need A Budget

Wondering where your money went right after payday ? You need a budget.

Many people steer clear from budgets because they believe it limits you from enjoying your money. Well, I am here to tell you that is not the case at all.

So, What is a budget? A budget is a system that is put in place to help you track your expenses. A budget is not one size fits all, but it is a tool to help you better prepare for your finances. If you take your family out to eat twice a month you do not have to stop doing that, you will simply just add it to your budget.

How do I get started? You will need to figure out your financial goals for your family. You will need to list all of your incomes

and be realistic with your financial situation. Budgets do not always work out perfectly. Sometimes we forget to add a bill, or an unexpected expense happens, causing us to have to rearrange some numbers. That's totally fine. Do not let that scare you away from budgeting.

Again, everyone is different. I am a pencil and paper kind of girl. However, if apps or excel helps you then so be it. Just remember to list all forms of income at the top and your expenses including groceries, toiletries, dining out and clothing. You also want to make sure you add your fixed incomes such ass your mortgage and car note.

Be sure not to be too hard on yourself. Effective budgeting takes time. It took me at least three to four months to budget effectively and I still run into roadblocks. Look, no one ever said that this was easy but it is manageable.
